About the Conference
The 63rd Annual NAMS Conference NAMSCON-2023, is being hosted by Ramaiah Medical College, a constituent college of Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, from October 6th to 8th, Bengaluru. This conference will cover a wide range of important health domains including digital health innovations, health and professional education challenges, non-communicable diseases, infectious disease surveillance, dental materials and innovations, novel drug delivery systems, rehabilitations, and advances in healthcare.
In addition to the conference, pre-conference workshops will be offered that are designed to enhance the skills of healthcare professionals. These workshops will cover areas such as robotic surgery, grants writing, cadaver-based surgical training, and transplantation sciences
Conference goals and objectives The field of healthcare is constantly evolving and it is crucial that our faculty and students stay up-to-date with the latest advances and innovations. This conference is aimed at providing a platform for all healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to come together and share the advances in healthcare delivery, meeting global challenges.
Pre-Conference Workshops
Transfusion Medicine
This workshop will focus on the latest trends and techniques in transfusion medicine, including blood banking, transfusion practices, and the management of transfusion-related complications.
Simulation for Critical Incident Management
This workshop targets general physicians, emergency medicine practitioners, and anaesthesiologists to enhance their knowledge and skills in handling critical incidents. The workshop will utilize the 3G Simman patient simulator to recreate realistic patient scenarios. Participants will engage in immersive crisis simulations, followed by debriefing sessions to discuss management strategies and teamwork.
The workshop also highlights the significance of non-technical skills such as communication and collaboration. With a full-day duration and a capacity for 30 participants. Faculty from the departments of Anaesthesia and Critical Care will facilitate the workshop.
Robotic Surgery Workshop
Robotic surgery has transformed the landscape of surgery, ushering in a new era of minimally invasive procedures. Traditional open surgeries are being replaced by robotic surgery in certain surgical fields. To keep up with these technological advancements, there is a need for continuing education and training programs.
The objective of this program is to equip trainees with knowledge and skills in robotic surgical training through hands-on training. The program aims to raise awareness about the latest technologies in the field.
The target audience includes obstetricians, gynecologists, surgeons, urologists, and oncosurgeons. The program will last for 6 hours and can accommodate 40 participants. The faculty of speakers consists of experienced professionals in the field.
Meta-analysis and Systematic Review
The workshop titled “Meta-analysis and Systematic Review” aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses. These research methods involve analyzing and summarizing previous studies to derive meaningful conclusions. The workshop targets faculties and postgraduates from medical colleges and allied health sciences.
Enhancing participants’ skills in conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses, the workshop promotes evidence-based medicine and inspires future research. The workshop can accommodate 30 participants, spans full day, enabling in-depth learning and knowledge acquisition.
Evidence-based Approach to Blood Transfusion and Cellular Therapy
The workshop titled “Evidence-based Approach to Blood Transfusion and Cellular Therapy” aims to provide education on current practices and advancements in transfusion medicine and cellular therapy. Organized by the Department of Medical Oncology and the Department of Transfusion Medicine, the workshop will feature lectures, discussions, and case-based scenarios. The objectives include discussing indications and usage of blood components, introducing technological advances in cell pheresis and stem cell collection, raising awareness about the need for voluntary blood donors, and providing a basic introduction to cellular therapy.
The target audience consists of internists, pediatricians, surgeons, intensive care specialists, pathologists, and blood bank physicians, with a capacity of 30 participants. The workshop will be facilitated by a team of experts from various relevant disciplines. The duration of the workshop is a full day, and the agenda includes sessions on evidence-based practices, blood bank and stem cell facility overview, transfusion management in special scenarios, and introductions to hematopoietic stem cell transplant and cellular therapy.
Digital Technology to Enhance Learner Engagement
The workshop aims to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to effectively integrate digital technology into their teaching, enhancing learner engagement. Topics covered include flipped classroom design, e-content development, digital resource utilization, and learning management system navigation. The target audience comprises teachers from various health professions education institutions. Dr. Narasimhan Swaminathan, a Professor of Physiotherapy at SRIHER, will serve as the resource faculty. This full day workshop can accommodate 30 participants, focuses on empowering teachers to leverage technology for improved education quality.
Simplifying Direct Composite Veneers
The workshop titled “Simplifying Direct Composite Veneers” aims to provide participants with a simplified approach to fabricating direct composite veneers, a popular method for restoring anterior teeth. The workshop acknowledges the learning curve associated with esthetic and restorative dentistry and focuses on using veneer templates and microhybrid composite resins to streamline the veneer fabrication process.
The target audience includes general practitioners, specialists, and dental students, with a capacity of 30-50 participants. The resource faculty, Dr. Deepak Mehta and Dr. Arun V, will deliver a combination of lectures and hands-on sessions on dental materials and the simplified technique for direct composite veneers. The workshop can be conducted as a half-day program.
Interdisciplinary Approach in Geriatric Rehabilitation
This hands-on workshop titled “Interdisciplinary Approach in Geriatric Rehabilitation” aims to provide participants with an understanding of the importance and scope of geriatric rehabilitation. The workshop focuses on the role of a multidisciplinary team, early mobilization in acute care settings, comprehensive geriatric assessment, and strategies for tele-rehab sessions for older adults.
The target audience includes physiotherapy, medical, nursing, and public health postgraduates and practitioners interested in geriatric rehabilitation. The resource faculty consists of experts from various disciplines.
The workshop spans a full day and includes lectures, discussions, case discussions, lab sessions, and a live online group exercise session.
Pharmacotherapeutic Interventions in Revolutionizing Oncology Care – A Problem Based Training
The pre-conference workshop on “Pharmacotherapeutic Interventions in Revolutionizing Oncology Care – A Problem Based Training” aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of healthcare providers in the field of oncology. The workshop will utilize a problem-based approach, presenting participants with real-world scenarios to develop effective pharmacotherapeutic interventions.
Key objectives include understanding the latest interventions, evaluating efficacy and safety, and addressing common challenges in oncology care. The target audience comprises students and professionals from various healthcare sectors.
The workshop, can accommodate 50 participants’ spans full day including lectures, hands-on sessions, and problem-based learning activities led by experienced faculty members.
Helping Babies Breathe
The workshop titled “Helping Babies Breathe” aims to address the high neonatal mortality rate in India, particularly due to birth asphyxia. The focus is on equipping nurses, who form a significant portion of the healthcare workforce, with the essential skills in newborn resuscitation.
The objectives include preparing units for newborn reception, conducting assessments and routine care, and performing initial steps of resuscitation, including bag and mask ventilation.
The target audience comprises graduate and postgraduate nursing students, staff nurses, and nurse educators.
The workshop, can accommodate 50 participants. Expert faculty members, including professionals from the NICU, will deliver lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on sessions throughout the full-day program.
INTEGRATIVE AND FUNCTIONAL APPROACH TO OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA
The pre-conference workshop titled “DENTAL WORKSHOP: INTEGRATIVE AND FUNCTIONAL APPROACH TO OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA” aims to provide dental professionals with updated knowledge on obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and its interdisciplinary management.
The objectives include recognizing risk factors, screening methods, and management strategies for OSA, as well as understanding the role of dental appliances in airway obstruction management. The target audience includes dental and medical professionals, researchers, and industry stakeholders, with a capacity of 100 participants. The resource faculty consists of both national and international experts in sleep apnea. The workshop is a half-day program.
